Partnership (Power Dynamic) Piece

Monologue in the office

In any partnership,
There's the traditional roles of the alpha, superior, boss
and the lesser, docile, obedient one.
Like a unspoken rule, we remain silent as we accept it.
Like this imbalance of symmetry doesn't affect our chemistry.

Any change might lead to a fight for the power
as the dynamic swings back and forth like a hammock.

Words in Arguments have two voices
the one that comes from the person speaking and the untranslated one
in the person's head. Rarely enough if is the code interpreted.

Just let me talk - translated - My voice is the only one to be heard now
I don't understand - translated - I don't want to hear your side
You're wrong - translated - Stay in your place

... Stay in your place....

because there isn't enough room for you in mine
and I guess I missed that class lesson on sharing because I want all the power.

It doesn't just exist in the connections between couples,
But in any relationship. Boss to worker, older brother to younger brother

We often breed authority in experience before testing the applicability of the experience of the situation.
Doesn't matter, I'm older so I know better.

Whose to say the child better educated in how to create their art deserves the criticism of their parent.

Whose to say the dog who just can't understand deserves to be yelled at at mistakes.

Patience is more than a virtue these days, now it's a commodity.
There's nothing worse than wasting it on an unfair relationship.

I just feel that the foundation to any relationship deserves the pillars of love, trust, fidelity, and effort.
And if one partner forgets to bring their tools to build this, they leave an imbalance
which should call for the other partner to play the role of Atlas to bear that weight.

Unless we learn how to stand evenly on this playing field can we balance the power between us.

5 Points to cover

1. Discuss the power dynamic in partnerships with the traditional roles of person giving orders and the other that receives the orders.
2. Reveal the answer to good partnership as balance
3. Describe the argument process in the struggle for power
4. Mention the applicability of this issue of power dynamic in all types of relationships
5. Discuss the foundations of a relationship

Fashion Reaction- Comic Strip

W1: Just look at the way he holds his hand! He is clearly gay…... But there’s nothing wrong with the gays, you know, you are what you are, you can’t help it.

W2: I mean it’s their fault…they didn’t choose to be that way. I mean look at this cartoon, he can’t help the fact that he says “girl” in every sentence.

W3: At least they dress really nice.

W1: Hey we should get one and interview them.

W2: Let’s not discriminate now, there are lesbians.

W1: Gay, lesbo, they’re all the same thing. All apart of the LGQYTR community

W3: You mean the LGBTQI?

W1: Yeah, whatever. We need to get a real live gay person in here for that article we’re writing.

W2: Yeah, but not if they’re dressing like that cartoon guy. Look at that man’s outfit. Out Of Date!

W1: very true. Not all of those people can dress well.

World News- Comic strip response

Elton: That’s not funny!

All: I don’t get it

Nat: I don’t see a difference. I was always bad at this anyway

Eric: (Jerks off in the air with an imaginary penis) that’s so typical

All: How cliché

Nat: You would think that…

Elton: We should know better…

Eric: To print something like…

All: It’s so detrimental to our society. So hurtful, so inconsiderate, so bad for our reputation. Not just as world news but as a paper

Eric: But also as world news.

Nat: They wouldn’t do this in Spain

Elton: In Brazil…

Eric: In England

All: But why here? Rainbows are the positive that develops after the negative. Not a symbol for something viewed as negative.

Eric: Maybe our sense of humor is just different.

Politics disscussion of comic strip

The History of Comics and Why They’re unrelated to politics

Comic Strip…hmmm you know what’s comical? Bush. He was a funny guy. I mean seriously, who told him that he could run a country? His daddy? We had an economy in the crapper, national disrest, and pointless wars in Iraq. Wow, like father like son. You know what? All Bush junior needed was a little love. A hug every now and then. Close personal relationships emphasized with hugs. Or not. Maybe so. Anyway, there should be a comic strip between men. sounds interesting. Maybe it provides ideological insight of the verbal image of society. You know the First comic strip was Mutt and Jeff. Written in 1907. Mutt and jeff was the first daily success comic strip. It was a talking moon and a weird colorful guy. 1907 was a hard year for the US and comics were just a relief. it was something for these old stiffs to laugh, to enjoy with their children after a long day of work. Now comics are claiming stand points of homophobia! This goes beyond comedic banter You know that would be considered a political cartoon. and political cartoons made it entrance to the newspaper during WWI when artists need to find a better way to describe war circumstances. Now. The comic strip is a dead art. After the Boondocks, it became obsolete. Well not exactly. we have Charlie Brown, Super Man. When you think about comics paved the way to cartoon television. If it wasn’t for great papers like ours where would TV be. where would this world be.

Politics Post

G1-They’re accusing us of being homophobic?
G2-Lets think. Homophobic would imply that we are homophobes and homophobes suffer from homophobia meaning scared or fearful of homosexuals!!
G3-This is America, Come on No One is scared of fags!!
G4-No the proper term is Gay.
G1-No i thought it was Quire!
G2-Its homosexual, the proper term is homosexual. Okay like i was saying no one is fearful or scared of HOMOSEXUALS. We have one of the most liberal, unbiased, pride supporting magazines in this damn country.
G4-And we have rainbow assorted life savers at the front text. We hired all those international relations boys, and I'm pretty sure they have some sugar in their tanks.
G1-And those fashion hussies! They probably all have gay best friends, I heard fag hags are the 2009 club accessories.
G2-Well lets be politically correct. None of these things prove that we don’t portray a homophobic image. Just because we may be in relations to a gay person...< /span>
G3-I mean who isn’t?
G4-Exactly
G2-Like i was saying, just because we may be relations or in acquaintance with homosexuals does not mean we do not add to this stigma or idea of our magazine being homophobic!
G3-Okay lets pull out the books.
G2-Yes!
G1-Okay lets look it up.
G3-Get the stacks from the archives and every feature paper from the last 2 years!!Every-time the term, gay, homo, Quire, and fag, or hate crime come up high light it!
G4-GOOD IDEA!
G3-Okay!
(searching, high-lighting, reading, minutes pass)
G3-ALL DONE?
G4-Yes,
G2-Yes,
G1-Yea, I'm done.
G3-Okay I don’t have anything. G4-Me either.G2-I don’t have an ything either.
G1-Umm.. I think I found one, Lewis Anthony was beat to death on HighLander Park. Police classifies this high-school student’s death as a hate crime. February 6, 2008
G3 and G4-Ohh.
G2-So in the the last past two year the only thing we have on homosexuality is 1 documented hate crime?
G1-Well we’re definitely not homophobic
G1-Ohh no we’re not, we’re naive, unfair, pre-justice, and maybe even discriminatory, but not homophobic.
G4-Also we must not look over the fact that homosexuals are the minority. Sort of like the Indians and Blacks, and in order for this paper to sell we must cater to our mass majority, the main buyers, the popular demographic and thats that!
G3-Noone wants to hear about gays just as much as they don’t want to hear about the latest hip-hop song.
G2-MmmmHmmm
G1-I’m mean Discriminatory. G3-But not homophobic.

Fashion Group Response

G3: Girl, take this memo, I’m fixing my mascara (looking into the compact mirror. G1 takes memo)

G1: Wait- this says that the paper is getting accused of homophobia!

All: Oh my god!

G2: Homo-what? I love the homos. They have great style!

G3: Homophobia?! Damn it we work with them all the time! How are they going to accuse US?

G1: yea, I don’t know where they get that idea! Have they even taken a peek at our designers?

G3: All gay, except for that one guy, you know the one with the muscles and that sexy tattoo on his left bicep?

G2: nope, I’m pretty sure he’s gay. My gay-dar beeped hysterically the first time he gave me advice on how to apply my sparkly green eye shadow. The nerve of this man!

G1: Yea and most of our followers are gay. If that was the case, Perez Hilton wouldn’t read us. Our section got a bangin’ review on his blog just last week.

G2: Don’t forget, we got five stars.

G1: We better not lose them.

G3: Ok, then go email him and let him know we, the fashion dynasty, are NOT homophobic. We need to not mess up these ratings!

G1: And if he doesn’t respond,

ALL: OH MY GOD

G4: you really think he do that?

G3: He knows better. We can just throw a spread together, and this fiasco will be over.

G2: Then let’s feature a famous gay designer or mogul.

G4: we just did a feature with Ms. J! I just wrote it. We can’t do one again.

G2: do you have a better idea?

G4: Maybe write an article highlighting our past editions with all the gay brilliance in the fashion world!

G2: Well then start that. I’ll go email Perez.
